Helping others
One piece at a time
If you had told me a few years ago that I would be selling pottery I made with my own two hands, I probably would have laughed.
I started pottery as a date day with my husband and completely fell in love with it. What started as a few hours at the studio quickly became something I looked forward to every week. It gives me a chance to slow down, learn something completely new, make mistakes, and sometimes just let the clay decide what it wants to be.
I am still very much a beginner potter, and I actually love that being part of the story. Every piece is handmade, one of a kind, and a little imperfect. Some are wonky. Some turn out completely different than I imagined. And every single one teaches me something.
But PAR Pottery for Good became about much more than pottery.
Iβm a mom of two boys, one being autistic. His diagnosis opened our familyβs eyes to an entire world of services, therapists, specialists, resources, advocacy, and support. We have been incredibly fortunate to have people around us who helped us navigate that world and make sure he has opportunities to thrive.
My professional life has taken me down a similar path. I work in special education supporting students with disabilities as they prepare for life after high school. I help students explore jobs and careers, build workplace skills, practice self-advocacy, and recognize that having a disability does not determine their potential or their value.
Through both my family and my work, I have also seen how overwhelming it can be for families trying to find the right resources, services, and support for someone they love.
That is why I created PAR Pottery for Good.
I wanted to take something that brings me so much joy and use it to do a little more good in the world. PAR Pottery for Good gives back by supporting programs and organizations that directly help autistic individuals and their families.
So when you purchase one of my pieces, you are supporting a very small handmade business, a beginner potter who is still learning every week, and a mission that means an incredible amount to me and my family.
Thank you for being part of it. π€πΊβΎοΈ
